JOC Big Band Academy 2024

We invite you to participate in the JOC Big Band Academy in January 2024! The Academy offers you the chance to play with the JOC and specialize YOUR Big Band skills. During two intense weeks you will learn all about musical matters such as timbre, articulation, timing and improvisation but also practical matters such as reading notes, planning and working under pressure. With the regular orchestra members you will work towards a final concert. 

This year we will focus on compositions played by Miles Davis during his legendary 1960 performance in the Concertgebouw. We will also work with ensemble LUDWIG and mezzosoprano J'Nai Bridges and prepare four Gershwin pieces!

The JOC Big Band Academy is aimed at senior students and is open to students from all conservatories in the Netherlands. We will start the Academy on January 11 in the CvA and on January 21 we will present the results of the Big Band Academy with a concert on the CvA Haitink stage.
