Do I have to compose and arrange everything myself, or am I allowed to choose another composer and arranger?

With JOC Productions, we want to give composers and band leaders the opportunity to compose and arrange for a large ensemble. So yes as the initiator you are also the composer. The artistic team of the JOC provides feedback on the composition and arrangement of the music, but if you have a good relationship with an arranger already, that is also an option.

To what extent does my idea need to be fully thought out alreay?

Your idea do not need to be fully developed yet, but your concept must have potential and be convincing. We encourage you to think about how JOC Productions can give a boost to your personal development as a maker. We will ask you questions about the following: What do you want to achieve with your project, how do you translate your personal artistic ideas and development into a cohesive, coherent, and appealing program for the public?

Do I need to have a full team already when applying?

The more thought you have put into it, the better our understanding of your concept will be. If you have musicians you feel are a perfect fit for your production, or a producer or marketer you enjoy working with, be sure to mention them. Keep in mind that the budget is limited and aimed at young creators. Also, bear in mind that your input and knowledge of the project also will be required for many production and marketing matters.

JOC Productions is a project of the JOC; as a creator, you are not required to do a financial contribution of your own. It is important to realize that you, the project leader, need to dedicate sufficient time to create this concert series. The JOC commissions a composition assignment, and all participants (performers and crew) are paid according to fair pay standards. You work with a project budget, which you manage yourself in consultation with the JOC.
