Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw conducted by Dennis Mackrel ft. Phion & Anna Serierse
'It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing' - It is one of the many hits of jazz legend Duke Ellington, but 'The Duke' was also heavily inspired by classical music and brought jazz and symphony orchestra closer together. Now, 50 years after his death, we as a jazz orchestra look back on The Duke's versatile oeuvre. Besides Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite you will also hear the many classics he recorded with Ella Fitzgerald, performed in this concert by Edison-winning jazz vocalist Anna Serierse. Ellington's influence on contemporary jazz will also be explored with a number of young jazz talents. The concert will be conducted by American conductor Dennis Mackrel. Whether you are a jazz fan or a lover of classical music, this concert is not to be missed!
