Marcel Veenendaal, Jan van Duikeren & Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw

With a voice that is unlike any other, DI-RECT singer Marcel Veenendaal enchanted the whole of the Netherlands with ‘Soldier On’. Together with leading trumpet player Jan van Duikeren, he showed his versatility and love for jazz on their new album ‘A Love Unveiled’. With the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, they brought classics such as ‘My Funny Valentine’ and ‘I Fall in Love Too Easily’ to Caprera, following in the footsteps of Chet Baker. This jazz icon not only played the trumpet wonderfully, he could also sing beautifully. He was praised for the melancholic tone in both his singing and his trumpet playing: ‘he sings as he plays’.
