CD Blues For The Date ft. Peter Beets

Beets, sinds 1998 vaste pianist van het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, is één van de meest succesvolle pianisten van nu.

Blues for the Date bestaat bijna geheel uit composities van zijn hand; de arrangementen zijn gemaakt door Henk Meutgeert, Rob Horsting, Jurre Haanstra en Marius Beets. De opnames zijn gemaakt tijdens een live concert in het Bimhuis.

Ted Panken van Downbeat Magazine schreef over de cd: ‘It is happy music, chock-a-block with fresh voicings, counter-melodies, and intriguing harmonic choices, and it requires for its proper execution a cohort fully trained in the idiomatic particulars of hard swinging, as Beets and his colleagues most demonstrably are.’
